Single Parents
  • Three times as many single parents (17 percent) proportionally to single adults (5.7 percent) use online dating sites.  Mediamark conducted an in-person survey at more than 25,000 homes from November 2006 to May 2007 to report these findings.

Single Parents
  • Online dating sites for single parents fits well the tight schedules, limited time and often just short windows of opportunity.

  • Parents can tuck the kids in bed and go online all the while being accessible should their parent responsibilities beckon.

Don’t be disappointed…
  • Often too high expectations when meeting an online buddy in person for the first time leads to disappointment (Eliazar).
  • Keeping the online time to a minimum and meeting sooner rather than later may help authenticate, or not, expectations held sooner.

A picture worth a thousand words
  • Pictures still may say the most according to a study at the University of Chicago where they reported both men and women care strongly about the physical appearance in selecting who they choose to communicate with online (Hortacsu).

Deal Breakers
  • Knowing a little personal information (for example smoking, drinking habits and whether someone has children or not) can help elliminate the “deal breakers” immediately and save everyone a little time in their searches and dating.

Typical costs
  • Online dating sites typically have a monthly enrollment fee associated with maintaining an active membership.  These costs vary from $0 to $75 per month.  Sites like  eharmony.com, True.com and Chemistry.com all have fees over $50 per month and Singlenet.com and Plentyofish.com are absolutely free.
