EVC-San Jose Promise


EVC commits to:

  • Serve 500 student who have graduated from a San Jose high school in 2017 and 2018
  • Enroll graduating San Jose high school students with a focus and specific outreach to underrepresented, low-income, undocumented (AB 540) and first-generation-​to-college students
  • Provide a "cost free" education, for up to two academic years, that includes tuition, books, Eco Pass (VTA Transportation), and health fee
  • Provide academic and student support services for academic success

EVC Promise students commit to:

    • Complete all eligible financial aid applications
    • Enroll in and complete a minimum of 12 units each semester
    • Earn and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 each semester
    • Enroll in and successfully complete math and English courses (in addition to courses within student’s education plan) each semester
    • Enroll in and successfully complete a college readiness summer math course if needed
    • Attend required appointments with a EVC Promise counselor
    • Attend required orientations, focus group meetings, writing and math workshops
    • Participate in mentorship, internship, civic or community service opportunities
