Eligibility Criteria
- Applications and instructions will be available on October 1st through October 29 th at http://www.evc.edu/nursing/index.htm , and outside of the Nursing Program’s Office, S207.
- The application period is October 1st – October 29 th, for enrollment in the following academic year. Once selection is determined, the student will be assigned to begin nursing coursework in either the Fall or Spring semester. In order to apply to the nursing program, the student must have completed the prerequisite courses.
The criteria for the nursing program:
- High School Graduation or Equivalent
- Human Anatomy with Lab* (Minimum 4 Semester Units)
- Note: Applicants with Combined Anatomy and Physiology must also have Human Physiology with Lab* Minimum 4 Semester Units within 5 Years. Beginning Fall 2010, one semester of combined A&P will no longer meet the requirement for Anatomy.
- Physiology with Lab* (Minimum 4 Semester Units within 5 years)
- Microbiology with Lab* (Minimum 4 Semester Units)
- English 001A*
- Cumulative GPA 2.5 or Higher
*With grade of “C” or higher

If there are more qualified applicants than spaces available, selection will be as follows:
- Students who have met the eligibility requirements are put into the State Chancellor’s Office validated “Model Prerequisites for Enrollment in ADN Programs” formula.
- This formula includes cumulative GPA (all colleges attended), prerequisite science GPA, science repeats (a Withdrawal, D or F will count as repetitions), and English 1A GPA. The formula generates a composite score (cut score), which will be utilized in the selection process.
- The EVC nursing program cut score is 68%.
- Students who meet the 68% cut score are randomly selected to take the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). The TEAS score requirement is 72% (adjusted composite score).
- Pass TEAS --> admitted to program
- Not Pass TEAS --> Remediation/Enrichment
- One year to complete plan successfully (including passing score on the TEAS)
- Admit students in the next possible enrollment cycle

Tuition Fees
Resident students pay California Community College enrollment fees each semester. Non-resident students pay enrollment fees as established by the District.
Approximate Costs Related to the Program
- Uniforms, laboratory coat and shoes: approximately $180.00 - $230.00 total both years.
- Books, syllabi, supplies, personal health insurance, approximately $1,700.00 both years.
- CPR training approximately $35.00.
- Physical exam and immunizations, variable costs.
Students are responsible for their own meals, housing and transportation to campus and assigned clinical agencies. For students who qualify for financial aid, financial aid and loan applications are available at the Financial Aid Office.
