Eligibility Criteria

The criteria for the nursing program:

  1. High School Graduation or Equivalent
  2. Human Anatomy with Lab* (Minimum 4 Semester Units)
    • Note: Beginning Fall 2010, one semester of combined A&P will no longer meet the requirement for Anatomy.
  3. Physiology with Lab* (Minimum 4 Semester Units within 5 years)
  4. Microbiology with Lab* (Minimum 4 Semester Units)
  5. English 001A*
  6. Cumulative GPA 2.5 or Higher


*With grade of “C” or higher

If there are more qualified applicants than spaces available, selection will be as follows:

      1. This formula includes cumulative GPA (all colleges attended), prerequisite science GPA, science repeats (a Withdrawal, D or F will count as repetitions), and English 1A GPA. The formula generates a composite score (cut score), which will be utilized in the selection process.
        • The EVC nursing program cut score is 68%.
      2. Students who meet the 68% cut score are randomly selected to take the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). The TEAS score requirement is
          • Version V.: 62% (adjusted composite score)
        • Pass TEAS --> admitted to program
        • Not Pass TEAS --> Remediation/Enrichment
          1. One year to complete plan successfully (including passing score on the TEAS)
          2. Admit students in the next possible enrollment cycle

Tuition Fees

Resident students pay California Community College enrollment fees each semester. Non-resident students pay enrollment fees as established by the District.

Approximate Costs Related to the Program

  1. Uniforms, laboratory coat, shoes, books, and supplies : approximately $1500 total both years.
  2. ATI Testing materials, books and online resources: approximately $400
  3. CPR training approximately $35.00.
  4. Physical exam and immunizations, variable costs.
  5. Student supply kits $66
  6. Annual mask fitting $25
  7. Background check and drug screening $68


Students are responsible for their own meals, housing and transportation to campus and assigned clinical agencies.  For students who qualify for financial aid, financial aid and loan applications are available at the Financial Aid Office.

Arm Patches: $2.00 Each
