SB 139 allows community colleges to utilize approved diagnostic assessment tools prior to enrollment in the nursing program. Evergreen utilizes the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). For additional information on the TEAS, visit http://www.atitesting.com/global/students/teas-faq.aspx
In order to be eligible for the nursing program, Evergreen requires a qualifying score of 72%. This score has been validated by reviewing Evergreen student success data. Students who do not meet the qualifying score will be given one year to complete an individualized remediation plan. The student can then retake the TEAS.
Evergreen TEAS testing dates and time are TBD. Since Evergreen receives state Enrollment Growth and Retention Funds, the $25 fee attached to the TEAS is waived for students applying to Evergreen’s nursing program. These fees will be waived through fall 2009.
