MATH 063 – ELEMENTARY STATISTICS

Course Description:
This course is an introduction to the study of statistics. It does not require a knowledge of calculus but does assume a familiarity with the basic concepts of intermediate algebra. Topics to be covered include mehods of describing data, common sample statistics, probability theory, random variables, common statistical distributions, point and interval estimation, hypothesis testing, and regression and correlation. Additional topics may include goodness of fit, tests of independence, non-parametric methods, and analysis of variance. Students will be required to use a computer software package or a hand calculator to complete several laboratory projects.
