2005 International Service-Learning excursion to Oaxca, Mexico

Use your Spring Break to travel to Oaxaca Mexico.

Travel to a rural community outside of Oaxaca to participate in a reforesting service project. Visit Mont Alban an ancient ceremonial temple of the Zapoteca Empire, and Santo Domingo de Guzmán Church, the seat of the Dominican Order since the 16th century. Visit local NGOs (non government organizations) to study the impact of globalization, and the sociopolitical structure of local communities, and participate in daily reflections.

Please note! This is not a Cancun vacation. This is a rigorous and intense trip. A portion of the trip involves traveling by dirt roads to rural communities, and camping on the floor in local familie's homes. Participants must be 18 years or older and in good physical condition.
