The TRC is available to provide training and support to faculty and staff based on their need and request. We provide online and one-on-one training to groups or individuals who want to integrate a variety of web/multimedia presentations, communication and collaboration technologies into their courses. We provide assistance on online course planning, instructional design and development, pedagogy, and best practices for online teaching/learning, research of discipline-specific web resources, as well as utilization of various educational software tools.
Faculty/Staff Training
For a description and schedule of online courses/workshops and hands-on sessions, check the link “faculty training.”
Technical Support
In the TRC, we provide one-on-one training for creating web pages using FrontPage, graphics (Photoshop), multimedia presentations and WebCT tools.
WebCT
WebCT is the Course Management Tool that is used to teach online, hybrid and web-enhanced courses. The functions of WebCT are listed as follows:
- It is a learning environment, not a Web site. Just like in a traditional classroom you have tools to help you learn effectively.
- It is a course on the web were you can do assignments, presentations, take exams/surveys, and communicate with your instructor and other students.
- Software that is hosted on your district office. You don't need anything more on your computer than a web browser.
If you want to know more about WebCT, take our comprehensive WebCT Tutorial that we have put together.
Equipment
The TRC contains 3 computers (2 PCs and 1 Mac) for faculty/staff use. There are laptops available that can be used in the room for small technology training groups. A scanner and a computerized scantron are also available.
The software installed is MS Office, Camtasia, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Impatica for PowerPoint.
