Awards and Recognition

Recognizing our students commitment to service and civic engagement is important to us. We honor their service in several ways:
  • Certificate of Completion: End of Semester certificate from EVC President.
  • Notation on EVC Official Transcript:  Student who have completed 20 or more Service-Learning and/or Public Service hours will have their hours documented on EVC official transcript.
  • Special Programs Award Ceremony: Graduates who have completed Service-Learning and or Public Service will be honored with a service medallion at annual Special Programs Award Ceremony.
  • President's Volunteer Service Award: Premier volunteer award issued by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation on behalf of U.S. President. 

Annual Commencement Ceremony Recognition:  Graduates who have completed 100 hours or more of service will receive silver graduation cords and notation of service in graduation program.

President's Volunteer Service Award

President's Volunteer Service Award logoThe President's Volunteer Award (PVSA) is the premier volunteer award program in the nation, issued by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation on behalf of the President of The United States. The award recognizes citizens' valuable service contributions to their community and their civic participation.

The Service-Learning and Public Service (SL&PS) program is proud to serve as an official certificating organization for the President’s Volunteer Award (PVSA)We verify the number of service hours, and nominate eligible volunteers. We cover the cost for an award package for active EVC students.

Award Levels

There are four levels of awards, bronze, silver, gold and the highest honor, the President's Lifetime Achievement. 
Volunteer HoursYoung Adults (16-25) 100-250Adults (26 and older) 100-500


EVC students who complete minimum of 100 hours of volunteer service in one year can apply for the PVSA. Hours must be completed at a NON-PROFIT organization and verified by the Center for SL&PS. All recipients will be acknowledged at our spring Commencement Ceremony.
