Overview
Evergreen Valley College’s Adult Education Teacher Training Program is designed to prepare current educators to effectively teach adult learners. Whether you’re new to the field or looking to enhance your skills, this program provides practical training in instructional strategies, curriculum development, classroom management, and student engagement techniques tailored to adult education settings. Gain the knowledge and confidence to make a meaningful impact in the lives of adult learners and help them achieve their academic and career goals.

Many educators at adult schools across California hold Adult Education Credentials issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). The CTC provides credentials for teachers in English Language Learner programs, High School Diploma programs, and other adult education programs statewide. Requiring teachers to hold credentials ensures a high level of expertise and quality in the instruction provided to adult education students. If you want to pursue this credentialing, only four adult education credentialing programs exist in the state, all located in Southern California. In response to this statewide need, Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) and Santa Clara Adult Education (SCAE), in collaboration with Evergreen Valley College, is excited to announce a free, noncredit Adult Education Teacher Credentialing Program for the local community and other adult schools statewide. SCAE will support teacher candidates through the application process for their preliminary and clear credentials, while Evergreen Community College will offer the required coursework. Classes will be held synchronously (Zoom) on Saturday mornings allowing working professionals the ability to complete the coursework in a timely manner.
For more information on the process for credentialing, please contact Christine Berdiansky, SCAE Program Administrator, at (408) 423-3503 or cberdiansky@scusd.net.
