EVC Health Services provides confidential services as well as confidential HIV and STD testing, modified physical exams, nutrition and health education, smoking cessation counseling, pregnancy tests, family planning and birth control, low cost fees for labs and some medications, medical provider access, referrals to community health agencies. Our goal is to promote your health and well-being, now and into the future. Your health is our priority.
Student Health Services Fees.
The mandatory student health fee funds public health and preventative care for our student community and underwrites the medical and mental health direct services. The Health Services Fee at EVC is $21 per semester, payable at the time of registration. The fee is non-refundable unless you withdraw from all classes prior to the end of the 10th class day of the term, or the District cancels all of your classes.

The following are exempt from paying the Health Services fee:
- Concurrently enrolled high school students with an approved Special Admit Form on file.
- Indentured apprentices fulfilling related instruction requirements (with proper documentation required).
- Students who are dependent exclusively upon prayer for healing, in accordance with teachings of a bonafide religious sect, denomination, or organization (proper documentation required).
- Students enrolled only for classes meeting off-campus.
- Students taking Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday classes only.
- Students taking only short-term classes which meet on campus seven times or less.
- Wavier or refund of the AS Activity Fee or the Health Fee may be requested in the Office of Admissions & Records. These requests should be made during the beginning of the semester.
Student Accident Insurance
The Community College District also provides accident insurance to students and athletes while on campus. Coverage is related to accidents under the following circumstances:
Students – while attending regularly scheduled classes on the campus, college-sponsored activities, including club activities, and while traveling under college supervision to and from college-sponsored events.
Student Athletes – while participating in or attending any regularly scheduled practice or competition supervised by an authorized representative of the College, or while traveling directly to and from practice or competition with other members as a group, provided such travel is supervised by an authorized representative of the College.

Note: Fees are subject to change by the Legislature. Effective Spring 2009 the BOGFW will no longer cover the health fee.
CalFresh Program
The CalFresh Program (formerly known as Food Stamps) helps low-income households increase their food-buying power to meet their household's nutritional needs. CalFresh benefits issued through Electronic Benefit Transfer, also known as EBT card, can be used in grocery stores and participating Farmers Markets. Homeless, elderly or disabled persons may purchase prepared meals from participating restaurants with their EBT card. Effective June 1, 2019, SSI/SSP recipients in California are also eligible for CalFresh benefits, provided all other eligibility requirements are met.
Family Pact
Family PACT is a state program that provides free family planning services to low income men and women. The program's purpose is to provide the services you need to establish the timing, number of children, spacing of your children and to help you maintain reproductive health.
These services are available here at Evergreen Valley College and at other clinics (e.g. Planned Parenthood) that are Family PACT program participants. You must be enrolled in the Family PACT program to receive free services. All services are completely confidential.
What is Family PACT?
Family PACT provides no-cost family planning services to low-income men and women, including teens.
Why Should I Enroll?
Family PACT provides access to family planning services for men and women, as well as education, counseling and treatment to protect your reproductive health.
How do I Apply?
You can apply in person at Evergreen Valley College Student Health Services or give us a call at (408) 270-6480. You can also download the application form and bring it in to the office.
Who is Eligible?
To be eligible for Family PACT benefits, clients must meet all of the following criteria:
- The client must be a resident of California (have a California address).
- The client must have a gross family income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL).
- The client must have no other source of health care coverage for family planning services, or meet the criteria specified for eligibility with Other Health Coverage (OHC).
- The client must have a medical necessity for family planning services.
What if I already have a card?
If your card is active (you received it within the last year), then you can notify the receptionist and receive free services. If you are unsure about whether your card is active, we encourage you to make an appointment to check the status. If it isn't active, please let the receptionist know and we can recertify your card on the same day!

Training & Education
Fentanyl Test Strips
The San Jose Evergreen Community College District stocks and distributes fentanyl test strips through the Student Health Clinic located in SC-124. Fentanyl test strips can be used to determine if drugs have been mixed or contaminated with fentanyl to reduce the risk of overdose. Written instructions on how to properly use fentanyl test strips shall be distributed together with the fentanyl test strips. Written instructions include visual aids and links to online closed-captioned videos.
Narcan
The San Jose Evergreen Community College District stocks and distributes Naloxone (also known by the brand name of Narcan) through the Student Health Clinic located in SC-124. Naloxone is a federally approved medication to reverse the effects of opioid overdose. The California Department of Public Health has provided training for assigned personnel and written protocol has been produced to ensure health and safety. Written instructions on how to properly use Naloxone shall be distributed together with Naloxone. Written instructions include visual aids and links to online close captioned videos. Naloxone is free.
