Overview.
We advance a campus culture of caring that recognizes that students are humans first. We exemplify this commitment in our public statements and in our daily work by addressing the structural poverty that created this basic needs security crisis.
We use data and evidence to drive our efforts to reduce food and housing insecurity and seek to impact as many of our students as possible.

Basic Needs Resources
While you wait for a FRESH team member to contact you regarding your EVC FRESH Assistance Application, you can access some of our on-campus resources now including:

The FRESH Assistance Center
You will hear the term FRESH on campus often. So what does it mean? FRESH stands for Free Resources and Education to Stop Hunger and Homelessness. The FRESH Assistance Center is your one-stop-shop to receive information and access on and off-campus basic needs resources.
Our goal is to provide an easy way for students to access various on-campus basic needs services and resources.
FRESH Assistance Application
This form is used to request assistance with on- and off-campus resources such as: housing, food, mental health, childcare, transportation needs, emergency funding, county services, and programs, and other basic needs services and resources.
Food Resources
CalFRESH
The CalFresh Program, federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), issues monthly electronic benefits that can be used to buy most foods at many markets and food stores.
2nd Harvest Food Distribution
The distribution takes place on the First and Third Friday of every month inside Parking Lot 1 from 9:30 am-11:00 am.

EVC FRESH Market & Pantry
The market was established to provide immediate food needs of EVC students by providing a variety of non-perishable food items.Other Services
For Student Parents
EVC has resources for our parenting students, both on campus and off campus. We are here to support you!
CARE Clothing Closet
The C.A.R.E Closet was established in 2018 to provide gently used professional clothing for students.
Campus Showers
EVC students may shower in a college-maintained locker room without the requirement of enrollment in a physical education (PE) course.
ASG Emergency Funding
ASG has set aside funding to offer a limited amount of emergency funds to assist our most vulnerable students to assist with basic needs resources and emergency situations.
Basic Needs Resources for Faculty & Staff
Research has shown a significant relationship between food insecurity and GPA, concentration levels, and energy level. As such, EVC recognizes that secure access to food and housing is essential to academic success in higher education and must, therefore, be treated as a top educational priority. Faculty and Staff play a major role in advancing a campus culture of care that recognizes that students are humans first.
