Welcome to Our Family!
Evergreen Valley College continues to expand our efforts to support our parenting students. We know how challenging it can be to support a family while also striving for a better future through education. EVC has resources for our parenting students, both on campus and off campus. We are here to support you!
Priority Registration
Student parents may qualify for priority registration, allowing them to enroll in classes before many other students. This benefit helps parents build schedules that fit around work and family responsibilities, making it easier to stay on track toward graduation.
Under California Assembly Bill 2881, a student parent is someone who has one or more children under 18 who receive more than half of their financial support from the student.
Lactation Pods
Evergreen Valley College provides clean, private lactation facilities for students,
employees, and visitors. These spaces are available on a first-come, first-served
basis and are located in convenient areas across campus. Email fresh@evc.edu or the Basic Needs Center (AR-121, above Gullo II) for additional details and usage.

Financial & Family Support Resources
Student parents have access to a variety of state and community programs that can help with food, healthcare, taxes, and financial assistance.
Available programs include:
- California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) – Tax credits for eligible working Californians.
- Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC) – Additional tax credit for families with qualifying children under age six.
- Medi-Cal – Low-cost or free health insurance for eligible Californians.
- CalFresh – Food assistance for eligible individuals and families.
The EVC Basic Needs Center can help students determine eligibility and complete applications.
Student Parent Programs
Evergreen Valley College offers programs that provide academic, financial, and personal support to student parents throughout their educational journey.
CalWORKs
Students receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) may qualify for CalWORKs services, including counseling, educational planning, and financial support.
CARE / EOPS
CARE provides additional academic and financial assistance to eligible EOPS students transitioning toward economic self-sufficiency.
These programs are designed to help student parents overcome barriers and successfully complete their educational goals.

Several programs are available to support the health and well-being of parents and young children.
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
WIC provides healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and community services for eligible families.

Mandated reporters are protected from civil and criminal liability when reports are made in good faith. Failure to report suspected abuse may result in legal penalties.

What support does EVC offer student parents?
EVC provides academic support, financial assistance, referrals, and access to community resources to help student parents succeed in college.
Are lactation rooms available?
Yes. Three lactation facilities are available across campus for students, employees, and visitors.
Where can I find help with food, housing, and other basic needs?
The Basic Needs Center connects students with food assistance, housing resources, mental health services, CalFresh application assistance, and other essential support.
What academic support is available?
The Library Educational Technology Center (LETC) offers tutoring, technology resources, study spaces, and other services designed to promote student success.
Are there programs specifically for low-income student parents?
Yes. Eligible students may receive additional support through EOPS, CARE, and CalWORKs, which provide counseling, financial assistance, and academic resources.
