Foster Youth
Overview
Evergreen Valley College is dedicated to ensuring the success of current and former
foster youth students.
With direct support programs like NextUp and YESS-ILP (Youth Empowerment Strategies
for Success) foster youth students will receive guidance and access to resources to
ensure a positive college experience.
Students of NextUp and/or YESS-ILP will have support from staff striving to meet their
individual needs by providing a network of holistic support services focusing on academic,
career, and personal development

NextUp
NextUp is a state-funded program designed to support current and former foster youth who are enrolled at Evergreen Valley College. Eligible students receive a myriad of resources to encourage retention and build community through workshops and events. Our goal is to help students persist, achieve their educational goals, and successfully transition to a career or university.

YESS-ILP
YESS is a comprehensive and integrated program that unites community partners and academic leaders to empower current and former foster youth to successfully transition into independent living. This program is in partnership with and funded by the California Department of Social Services and is hosted on California Community College campuses throughout the state.
