The film challenges dominant narratives about incarceration by centering resilience, accountability, and community uplift. It highlights how access to education, culturally affirming support, and second chances can transform individuals and, in turn, entire communities.

Burning for Justice is a deeply personal and timely documentary that follows Yuridia, a justice-impacted Latina and firefighter, as her story intersects with police violence, mass incarceration, and community healing. The film examines the misuse of state power while uplifting recovery over punishment, solidarity across communities, and the possibility of justice rooted in humanity rather than harm. It invites viewers to move beyond outrage toward action, unity, and systemic change.
