Overview
The Math (C1000) and English (C1000) RISE courses provide you with student success teams designed to help you thrive in your gateway courses. You’ll gain access to tutoring, academic counseling, and other helpful resources, all while building a strong sense of community and belonging. Students selected for these sections of Math & English must meet certain criteria and willing to commit to the resources and other programming to ensure success.
Enrollment Priority Criteria
- Plan to enroll in 9 or more units in Spring 26
- A first-generation college student
- Eligible for a CA College Promise Grant
- Committed to attending counseling and tutoring resources
- Apply by January 16, 2026

- STAT C1000 - Introduction to Statistics, MW - 6:00 PM - 7:20 PM
*Asynchronous Hybrid (Partially Online and On-Campus): These classes combine on-campus instruction with online learning activities through Canvas. Instead of meeting on campus every week, students complete a portion of the coursework online. An online orientation is required and may be held during one of the in-person class meetings or through a live web conference. If conducted live online, the session will be recorded and shared in Canvas for students who may not be able to attend.

- No need to worry about expensive codes and books. All required instructional materials for these courses are completely free or supported with grant funds.

- We use an "individualized student-centered" approach. That means if you fall behind, we reach out to help you catch up.
